Sophie Lapsley recognised for education and training nouse

RMCG congratulates Senior Consultant Sophie Lapsley for winning the 2019 APEN Award for Excellence in Extension for an Experienced Professional at the recent Australasia-Pacific Extension Network (APEN) Conference in Darwin, NT.

She was recognised for coordinating VegPRO, the education and training initiative that provides training, resources, and tools to the Australian vegetable industry. This was an innovative program based on the needs of growers and employees, and matching these with appropriate training providers. It was funded by Hort Innovation using the vegetable industry R&D levy and delivered in partnership between RMCG and Applied Horticultural Research (AHR).

Sophie was “honoured to receive the award” but was quick to acknowledge the hard work that went on behind the scenes. “I was really the messenger for the great VegPRO team; from the trainers who supported the project, the VegNET group who provided the people on the ground in each region and the support from sub-contractor AHR”. She also spoke of the support she received from fellow RMCG team members on what was a ‘unique’ project. “Within RMCG we were able to draw on many skills including project management from Donna Lucas and Doris Blaesing, website design and communications through Emma Egan and webinar delivery through Carl Larsen.”

This range of expertise and ability to design skills-based teams is what gives RMCG a competitive edge and always deliver high quality, timely projects.
