Agritourism

Agritourism connects people, produce and place.

We understand agritourism as a distinct industry sector requiring agricultural production knowledge, tourism experience design, regulatory awareness, and commercial viability and market insight. RMCG makes it easier for farmers navigate the pathways needed to turn good ideas into legally operating visitor experiences, with a focus on practical, implementable strategies. We also provide evidence-based frameworks to support local governments and regional bodies facilitate agritourism outcomes within their economic development strategies.

Our experience spans:

  • Farm diversification strategies
  • Food and wine tourism development
  • Regional branding linked to provenance
  • Visitor experience design across rural landscapes
  • Regional agritourism strategy
  • Stakeholder communication and engagement with tourism operators
  • Tourism sector governance
  • Identifying land use planning changes to support agritourism opportunities
  • Acknowledging the role of agritourism in broader visitor economy and economic development priorities
  • System and situation analysis to help navigate planning rules
  • Agritourism incubator and accelerator program design and delivery.

RMCG are committed to identifying and advocating for planning and regulation reform, with the aim of connecting agriculture to tourism and government. We can help farm businesses and planning agencies make regulation understandable and workable for great outcomes.
