Water workshops a tool for water risk management

The water market can be unpredictable. Join us for the upcoming water workshops to better equip producers in planning, responding and adapting their water use in the face of drought and market uncertainty.

Are you an irrigation farmer looking to strengthen your water risk management and better understand the water market?

RMCG is running five upcoming water risk management workshops on Australia’s water market, targeting the Northern-Victorian region. The workshops are focused on developing Victoria’s irrigation farmers to be more adaptable to the changing market and its prices, providing farmers with insights on water market influences, the current market situation, and how farms can ensure long-term sustainability for long-term productivity.

Running throughout September, participants will hone skills in:

  • Seasonal water outlooks and how to interpret them
  • Evaluating entitlement versus allocation trade-offs
  • Applying risk management tools
  • Decision making around water purchasing
  • Strategic use of carryover
  • Aligning water strategy with farm system needs.

The workshops are delivered on behalf of Agriculture Victoria as part of the Victorian Government’s statewide Drought Support Package.
