Dairy Farm Monitor Project

Dairy Australia, 2018

For over a decade, the Dairy Farm Monitor Project (DFMP) has provided a comprehensive analysis of physical and financial data for participating farm businesses across Australia. Operating throughout Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales, Western Australia and Queensland, the data collected is stored in the web-based tool DairyBase and provides the opportunity for farmers to compare their performance and identify areas for improvement. Annual reports produced from the data collected also assist the industry broadly, providing a basis for informing policy and service delivery through the Research and Development Corporation.

RMCG has recently been engaged by Dairy Australia to ensure that the DFMP dataset is validated and collated in a consistent and relevant manner, including:

  • Validating survey data from 100 dairy farms across the participating states
  • Developing analysis methods for the complex dataset that are consistent with the current industry standard
  • Developing methods of presenting data – including building spreadsheet templates capable of producing relevant and consistent figures and tables
  • Liaising closely with Dairy Australia staff, consultants and dairy farmers, addressing data quality and interpretation queries.
  • Contributing to proof reading the DFMP Annual Report.
