Community impacts study of the Murray Darling Basin Plan

Murray Darling Basin Authority

RMCG were co-leaders in a consortium engaged by MDBA to assess the potential community impacts of the proposals in the Guide. EconSearch was an important member of that consortium. Throughout the project, we conducted extensive consultation with communities to understand how the proposals in the Guide might impact upon local, small-scale, human issues and costs during the short and medium term.

RMCG were both consultation lead and lead authors for the work. Our consultation covered 48 social catchments, 80 local government areas and 119 towns and regional centres. The project involved nearly 700 people from across the full range of sectors and employment groups, and lead to improved social, environmental and economic outcomes for the Basin community.
