Healthy soils provide benefits to all Victorians. The Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) engaged RMCG to develop a Soil Health Policy Position Paper to shape their approach to protecting the State’s soils. Work on this position paper required thorough analysis of the role of government in soil health, understanding of community views on soils, and the main factors shaping government approaches to soil health.

 

Using our understanding of soil health approaches and policies across Australia, our understanding of the current policy environment in Victoria, and our knowledge of soil health issues in Victoria, RMCG was able to prepare a successful position paper. Using much of that work done for this paper, DSE’s Natural Resources Division is developing a State soil health strategy, investment priorities, and a soil health research program.
