About Us

Our History

The RMCG story was started in Bendigo in 1989 by Rob Rendell and Nigel McGuckian.

The initial focus was on helping farmers build sustainable businesses. This covered all of their activities. We still retain that strong connection with individual farmers. It gives us a real understanding of what government policies mean in practice. That means we can give better advice to government agencies.

We are now a partnership run under the name of RM Consulting Group or RMCG. We have grown to cover the full range of issues that drive sustainable outcomes in the management of water and other natural resources. We have thirty professional staff working from offices in Bendigo and Camberwell, with smaller local offices in Aireys Inlet and in Penguin, Tasmania.

Our Values

We care for our clients and their well being. We pride ourselves that we are known for our integrity and our willingness to be honest in our advice to clients for their best interest.

So all of our dealings with our clients are underpinned by our strongly held values:
  1. Honesty
  2. Respect
  3. Openness
  4. Friendliness
  5. Integrity
  6. Professionalism

Our Skills and Approach

Our consultants have skills in strategic planning, engineering, natural resource management, rural land use planning, economics, farm business management, community consultation, social research, facilitation and training.

We work with regional agencies to design and evaluate practical programs, with senior government advisors to develop strategic policies and with farmers to develop individual farm plans. Our strength comes from our credibility across growers, industry sectors and agencies and our ability to understand and explain the interface between them.

We are committed to an approach that balances and integrates the economic, social and environmental aspects of decision-making. We bring rigorous professional skills and strong personal values to all our work in developing solutions to help individuals, communities and organisations prosper through better farm, land, water and people management.
